Choosing a Knowledge Demon penalty

Curse of Knowledge asks the player to accept a restriction. Choose according to the actual engine. Mind Rot reduces draw, making additional draw more valuable. Sloth limits card plays, which directly conflicts with a turn that requires several Shivs, generated cards or resource-conversion Skills.

A larger hand does not solve a card-play cap. Conversely, a deck relying on a few expensive attacks may tolerate fewer plays better than a restriction on the Energy needed to cast them. Decide what is dispensable before the choice screen appears.

Ponder’s effect

The opening sequence is Curse of Knowledge, Slap, Knowledge Overwhelming and Ponder. Afterward, additional Curse choices depend on how many have already occurred. Do not describe the whole fight as an unchanging four-turn loop.

Ponder attacks while healing the boss and adding Strength. Defensive stalling must therefore beat both recovery and growing attack pressure. Knowledge Overwhelming hits three times, so every point of additional Strength affects several hits. A debuff that cuts attack damage can be more valuable here than the same effect against one small hit.

Prepare the shop and the finishing sequence

If the deck can already survive but the boss keeps recovering, seek repeated damage or scaling rather than only another Block card. If its damage is sufficient but Mind Rot prevents reaching it, prioritize draw or a way to recover the needed card from discard.

A potion before the boss can cover the first difficult attack or shorten the number of penalty choices. Compare its concrete turn with a long-term removal purchase. At Ascension 6, that purchase competes with the higher Merchant removal price.

In co-op, communicate which restriction makes each deck stop working. Another player’s successful turn does not repair your missing draw or unavailable Energy.
