Encounter locations
- The Insatiable: Act 2 - Hive, boss encounter.
Sandpit and turn limits
The Insatiable can apply Sandpit, whose countdown ends in the player being eaten. Building enough Block for the shown attack does not answer that separate defeat condition. Track the countdown alongside the boss’s HP and your available finishing damage.
Fairy in a Bottle does not rescue a player from being eaten. Its current condition is HP reaching zero; the Sandpit defeat does not need to reduce HP through that trigger. Mega Crit explicitly clarified the potion’s wording after players reported this failure.
Damage before the deadline
Count the damage that can actually be delivered before the timer ends, including Energy and the cards likely to be available. A retained attack or a direct recovery effect can be more dependable than a powerful card left somewhere in the draw pile.
If the deck has enough damage but the relevant cards are separated, draw or discard recovery may be the missing improvement. More Block can preserve HP against Thrash and Lunging Bite, but it does not create another turn after the execution deadline.
Attack windows
The moves include multi-hit Thrash, a larger single Lunging Bite and Salivate, which adds Strength. A non-attacking buff turn gives room to deploy useful setup or deal damage, but extending the encounter also increases later attack pressure.
Before entering, decide whether a potion solves survival against the normal attacks or supplies damage to finish before Sandpit. Those are distinct jobs. A Fairy can still be useful against ordinary lethal HP loss; carrying one must not replace the deck’s plan for the timer.
For a deck relying on several delayed effects, compare their timing carefully. An eventual damage total is irrelevant if its final trigger would occur after the player has already been eaten.
