Hailstorm’s Frost requirement

In the Frost Defect build, Hailstorm deals its damage only if you still have Frost at the end of your turn. The important enabling card is often Coolheaded, Cold Snap, Glacier or Chill. A second Hailstorm without a reliable Frost source adds another setup card that cannot pay off.

Prefer a generator that also solves a present need: Coolheaded supplies draw, Cold Snap deals damage, and Glacier supplies immediate Block. ## Keep the final Orb state in mind

The condition is checked at turn end. Having had Frost earlier does not help if later channeling evokes the last Frost Orb and leaves only other types. Plan the order of your last channels when the end-of-turn damage is needed to finish a group.

Hailstorm’s damage is not increased by Focus. Focus improves the Frost Orb’s normal Block output; it does not change the number printed on this Power. Likewise, more Frost Orbs do not multiply one Hailstorm’s trigger. The upgrade raises the repeated area damage from six to eight. That is attractive when the condition is met consistently and fights last enough turns to repeat it. Upgrade or add the Frost generator first when missing the condition is the real problem. Against a single enemy that must die immediately, direct damage can be more useful than spending a turn on another conditional Power.
