Hologram and draw restrictions

Hologram selects a card from the discard pile. It does not search the draw pile or recover an exhausted card. If the answer you need is still undrawn, Hologram cannot reach it yet. Check the pile before spending the energy.

That targeted retrieval is different from another random draw. You can return an attack already played this turn, recover a defensive card discarded earlier, or repeat a setup card when it has reached discard. The returned card still has its own cost; Hologram does not make it free.

The upgrade matters beyond its extra Block: it removes Hologram’s Exhaust keyword. An unupgraded copy normally leaves the combat after use, while an upgraded copy can return on later cycles. That makes repeated retrieval possible without promising an infinite loop; the deck still needs enough resources and valid cards to retrieve.

Because returning a card is not drawing it, Fiddle does not prohibit the retrieval in the same way it prohibits draw cards. For decks that repeatedly find the right answer late, see opening-hand consistency before assuming another Hologram solves every access problem.
