The gold Perfect badge requires three boss defeats without losing HP during those fights. The bronze Flawless tier needs one, and silver Supreme needs two. The badge can appear on a winning or losing run; the three qualifying defeats still have to occur in the same run. It is a challenge in damage prevention, not a requirement to finish with a full health bar.
Prepare each boss before entering
A deck that eventually generates enormous Block can still leak HP while playing its Powers. Before the boss room, separate the opening turn from the established engine. Anchor supplies ten Block at combat start; an Impervious in hand supplies thirty immediately. Neither guarantees that every later attack is covered, but they address a different problem from a Power which pays off next turn.
Use the next boss’s actual moves to identify the turn that can break the attempt. Against Waterfall Giant, the survival check continues after lethal. Against Aeonglass, a setup hand still needs to handle the immediate attack. The boss preparation guide and Waterfall explosion guide give the encounter-specific checks.
Buy or preserve a potion for a named failure: twelve missing Block, one attacker which must die, or a useful card stranded in discard. A bottle reserved for that turn is part of the plan. Saving every potion while allowing a small hit through defeats the objective even if the rest of the fight is comfortable.
One Buffer does not cover a whole attack intent
Consider three hits of six damage, with no modifiers and zero starting Block.
| Defense on this turn | HP lost | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Lucky Tonic alone | 12 | One HP-loss event is prevented; two remain. |
| Block Potion alone | 6 | Twelve Block absorbs two hits; the third reaches HP. |
| Twelve Block and one Buffer | 0 | Block covers the first two hits, then Buffer prevents the remaining HP loss. |
The third line uses both potions, if both are available and their effects resolve as stated. It is a complete answer to that example, not a reason to spend two bottles on a turn your cards already cover. The Lucky Tonic guide explains why Buffer counts HP-loss events rather than enemy turns.
Read the final intent after Weak, Strength reduction and other effects resolve. A small reduction applied to every hit can change whether an ordinary Block hand covers the whole action. Recalculate from the updated number; do not subtract the same debuff twice.
Keep current and future Block separate
Prolong schedules Block for the next turn. It supplies none immediately. Blur preserves Block across the next turn boundary, while Barricade changes Block retention for the combat. These cards solve different timing problems even when a finished deck uses several of them together.
A Defect engine can combine immediate Frost protection with Prolong retrieval. Silent can play Shivs before a Dexterity-sensitive Block card when Helical Dart or Kunai makes that order stronger. The retained Shiv comparison calculates that difference. None of these packages excuses a first turn where the necessary card has not arrived.
Choose prevention lines that do not need to pay HP when protecting a clean boss. Healing afterwards is not the same plan as avoiding the loss. Likewise, extra Max HP makes a mistake survivable for the run, but does not supply Block against the attack you are trying to prevent.
Count qualifying fights rather than protecting every room
Hallway and event damage are different from the badge’s boss condition. A player-documented Ascension 10 Necrobinder run earned Perfect while also reporting damage in a hallway and against the second Act 3 boss. The run had three other qualifying boss defeats. The useful lesson is that the objective counts boss results, not a damage-free entire climb.
Ascension 10 adds a second Act 3 boss. That creates another boss fight, but also another difficult encounter; raising difficulty solely to seek the badge can make the attempt less reliable. A normal three-boss route leaves no spare boss result if one fails.
Complete the encounter and continue the run normally. Main v0.107.1 fixed awarding Perfect when abandoning at a boss, so an old exit trick is not a route to the current badge. The badge directory lists the related tiers and requirements.
Before each boss, identify one opening defense, one sustained defense and one emergency answer. If one of those is absent, spend the remaining shop or campfire opportunity repairing that specific gap instead of adding a fourth damage payoff.
