Focus Potion can improve an entire fight for the Frost build or Lightning build. Its 2 Focus lasts for the combat. Once appropriate Orbs are active, that can produce repeated value instead of a single burst of damage or Block.

Focus Potion timing

Use it before the passive trigger or evocation you need to strengthen. Drinking after a dangerous turn has already resolved cannot recover the health lost. If Frost is your defense, calculate whether the increased Block will cover the incoming attack alongside the cards you can play now. A potion that eventually produces plenty of Block can still be too slow to prevent an immediate loss.

Lightning and Frost benefit directly from Focus. Dark Orbs use it for their growth, while Plasma’s Energy production is unaffected. Check the actual Orb row before committing a potion slot to a plan based on Focus. A deck mainly dealing damage through Claw does not receive a larger Attack number from drinking it.

Data Disk provides a smaller combat-start Focus bonus without consuming a potion. The potion can supplement that setup for a difficult elite or boss. The potion timing guide explains why saving a combat-long effect until the final emergency can waste much of its benefit.
