Bound Phylactery matters in every Necrobinder strategy, including Osty, Doom and Souls. It Summons 1 at the start of your turn. If Osty is absent, that brings him back; if he is already present, the Summon increases his health for the combat.

Bound Phylactery’s recurring Summon

The relic does not restore a large Osty automatically after he dies. His next return begins with the small amount supplied by the trigger. If the deck needs him to absorb a substantial attack, plan additional Summon or Block before ending the turn. Repeated hits make relying on one small health buffer particularly risky.

Bodyguard and Unleash turn a larger Osty into a more substantial part of your turn. Calcify improves his attack damage, but the relic itself does not cause an attack. You still need a card that instructs him to act.

For Doom and Soul decks, Osty can provide breathing room while the other engine develops. That support does not require converting every reward into an Osty card. Take additional Summon when it solves a real defensive or damage need, and keep enough direct defense for turns when the companion alone cannot cover the incoming damage.
