Bloodletting’s Energy and HP costs

In the self-damage Ironclad build, Bloodletting is useful when the extra Energy changes the hand you can play. If it enables Uppercut and a defensive card, the three HP paid can prevent a larger incoming loss while advancing the fight. If the remaining hand is empty or unaffordable for another reason, playing it simply spends health.

Paying HP to play another attack is attractive when that attack kills an enemy before its turn. Against a surviving group, the same payment may leave you unable to absorb the combined attack. ## Rupture and upgrade priorities

With Rupture already in play, Bloodletting also grants Strength through its HP-loss trigger. Play the Power first if the hand allows it. The upgrade increases the Energy gained from two to three while leaving the HP payment at three. Prioritize it when you regularly have more useful cards than Energy. A damage or Block upgrade may solve more immediate problems when you are not drawing enough cards to spend that extra resource.

Corruption can make the same hand’s Skills free. Recalculate before using Bloodletting in that situation: the Energy may still fund attacks and Powers, but it is no longer needed for those Skills. Burning Blood’s healing between combats helps replenish losses; it cannot rescue a turn where the HP payment leaves you dead to the current enemy.
